Preview and Assign a Practice Set
- Add Activity to Favorites
After completing this module, you will be able to:
Preview a practice set as a student and assign it to your students in Classroom.
Before assigning a practice set, preview it as a student to see their experience using hints, showing their work, and entering their answers.
Open a practice set from your library. Select “try as a student.” In this view, you can try out your practice set as if you were a student.
The light bulb icon indicates there is a hint for that question. Students can click the light bulb to view the hint. Hints are attached based on the learning skill(s) you attached to each question.
Click “extra help” to view all the hints for the whole practice set in one place.
Under each question is a box for students to enter their answer. In addition, there is a notepad area where students can show their work. Click “show your work” to open the notepad.
Students can type or use the drawing tool in both the answer box and the notepad. Click the drawing tool icon to toggle it on and off.
When you are ready to assign a practice set to your students, you’ll create a new assignment in Classroom and attach the practice set. To get started, go to your class in Classroom.
Choose the Classwork tab.
Select create.
Click Assignment from the dropdown.
Select practice sets from the options in the attach menu.
Select the practice set from your library.
Select attach.
Add a title.
The practice set is now attached to an assignment in Classroom and is ready to assign to your students. Now, you can edit your practice set after you’ve assigned it to your students. For example, if you selected the wrong “correct” answer, you can go back in and change it.
A verified teacher can share practice sets with other verified teachers within their Google Workspace, so their colleagues can make a copy and use it with their students.
Note: Only administrators can verify teachers. For administrator instructions on how to verify a teacher see here.
To share a practice set, follow these steps:
Receiving a practice set
If the teacher receiving the link is a verified teacher, they will be able to open the link to preview and copy the practice set. If they would like to edit or assign the practice set, they can click “Make a copy” at the top right of the page to create a copy that is saved in their library.
Sharing practice sets FAQs
When a teacher who is not a verified teacher clicks on a practice set sharing link, they will receive an error message containing instructions on how to check if they are a verified teacher, and information on how to contact their admin to verify their account.
Once link sharing has been disabled, users won’t be able to access the preview or make a copy. If a user has the practice set open when link sharing is turned off, they will continue to see a preview but will not be able to make a copy. Once the user reloads their page, they will not be able to access the preview.
The teacher will receive an error message and will not be able to access the content.
Verified teacher access prevents any other types of users from accessing practice sets or editing a practice set.
Verified teachers are described here. Check to see if you are a verified teacher here (if you are, you will have access to see this group and be shown as a member). If you are a verified teacher that wants to receive practice sets from fellow teachers, have your admin add you to the Teacher Group.
Student will access the practice set you assigned on the Classwork page. They will open the Classroom assignment as usual and click on the practice set. They have multiple attempts to enter the right answer and can open the resources as much as needed. When they are ready, they will click “Turn in” to turn in their work.
